The Glacier Discovery train to Grandview
Train Trip from Anchorage or Girdwood: $116 roundtrip
Train Trip from Whittier or Portage: $90 roundtrip
*Due to this year's heavy snowfall in the Kenai Mountains, the Glacier Discovery Train won't begin service south of Portage until June 1, 2012 or after. This date is subject to change, depending on the rate of snow melt.
Travel deep into the Grandview Valley and the historic “loop district” where you’ll be surrounded by alpine meadows, wildlife, and wildflowers.
Enjoy exceptional views of Trail Glacier, Bartlett Glacier, and Spencer Glacier. Step off the train at Grandview, the newest whistlestop along the railbelt.
Take a short walk on a well-maintained trail through this lush, alpine valley. Tours from Anchorage or Girdwood include one-way rail and optional return to Anchorage or Girdwood by motorcoach from the Portage stop.
Portage and Whittier departures may add motorcoach transfer to Anchorage for $30.
