Grandview
The Grandview Valley is one of the most scenic areas of the entire railbelt and is only accessible by train.
*Due to this year's heavy snowfall in the Kenai Mountains, the Glacier Discovery Train won't begin service south of Portage until June 1, 2012 or after. This date is subject to change, depending on the rate of snow melt.
The train travels past Spencer and deep into the historic "loop district" where wildflowers graze the alpine meadows and time stands still.
The Valley has exceptional views of several glaciers and wildlife can occasionally be seen from the train.
The train travels to Grandview and then reverses course and comes back down the Valley to pick up hikers and rafters from Spencer and returns to Portage and Whittier before traveling back to Anchorage.
