Friday: Spend the first night in Anchorage and make time to visit the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, the Alaska Aviation Museum or take an easy walk along the Cook Inlet on the Coastal Trail. Be sure to check out the concerts at the Performing Arts Center. Fine dining options are plentiful in Anchorage.
Saturday: Fairbanks by train. Board the Aurora Winter Train for Fairbanks. Enjoy the serene winter landscape as you travel north through birch and spruce forests. Keep an eye out for wildlife and the northern lights as you travel north. Overnight in Fairbanks.
Sunday: Discover Alaska's Arctic with Northern Alaska Tour Company. Fly over the Yukon River Valley, the Arctic Circle and beyond just south of the Gates of the Arctic National Park. Participate in a ceremonial Arctic Circle landing. Learn the fascinating story of the Brooks Mountain Range wilderness and see the trans-Alaska-pipeline. Return to Fairbanks.
Monday: Fly to Anchorage on Alaska Airlines You can opt to spend an extra day exploring Fairbanks to visit the world-class Museum of the North or take a side trip to Chena Hot Springs Resort for a therapeutic soak in the natural springs and a tour of the world famous Aurora Ice Museum.
Includes: Rail transportation Anchorage to Fairbanks. One night hotel in Anchorage, two nights' hotel in Fairbanks, flightseeing north of the Arctic Circle, Alaska Airlines flight from Fairbanks to Anchorage. Must show ID at boarding to receive special rates.
