Itinerary


Anchorage, Alaska

Day 1

Arrive in Anchorage, Alaska's largest city. Book an excursion, or explore shops, museums and restaurants at your leisure. Overnight in Anchorage.

 

 


Day 2

Board the Coastal Classic Train for a breathtaking ride along Turnagain Arm and through scenic Grandview. Upon arrival in Seward, board a boat to Fox Island for your overnight stay at remote Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge.

 

 


Glacier Cruise in Kenai Fjords National Park

Day 3

Cruise Kenai Fjords National Park, keeping a camera handy for sightings of massive tidewater glaciers, whales, seal lions, puffins and more. That evening, board the Coastal Classic Train bound for Girdwood. Overnight at The Hotel Alyeska.

Day 4

Stretch your legs on a hike to Alyeska Glacier. Looking for more adventure? Opt to upgrade to helicopter flightseeing, complete with landing on a glacier for a dog sled ride. Overnight at The Hotel Alyeska.

 


Spencer Glacier Float Trip, Glacier Discovery Train

Day 5

Board the Glacier Discovery Train for a backcountry paradise only accessible by rail: Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop. Float among glacial icebergs on the Placer River down to Portage, where you'll meet the train once again. Overnight in Anchorage.

 


Denali Star Train, Alaska Railroad

Day 6

Travel to Denali National Park aboard the Denali Star Train. This scenic, full-day trip from Anchorage offers views of Mount McKinley along with wildlife and backcountry beauty. The late afternoon arrival at the Park leaves time for exploration. Overnight in Denali.

Denali National Park, Brown Bear

Day 7

Rise early to take advantage of the best wildlife viewing as you travel 92 miles into the farthest reaches of the Park on the restricted access Park road. Incredible wildlife sightings are common, including grizzly bears, moose, wolves, foxes, caribou, eagles and much more. Spend the night at Denali Backcountry Lodge.

 


Denali National Park

Day 8

This day is completely dedicated to enjoying the Denali backcountry, with options to hike, pan for gold, fish for grayling, mountain bike or just relax. Overnight at Denali Backcountry Lodge.

 


Talkeetna, Alaska. Denali Star Train, Alaska Railroad

Day 9

After a hearty breakfast, guests return to the Denali Train depot for the short train trip to Talkeetna. This funky little village is known for its spectacular views of Mount McKinley. Arriving late in the afternoon, travelers can stretch their legs with a short guided hike, spotting wildlife and learning about old-growth forest.

 


Talkeetna Jetboat

Day 10

In Talkeetna, a jetboat ride takes you deep into the National Wild River Park of Devil's Gorge. Depart on the Denali Star Train for the final leg from Talkeetna to Anchorage, arriving in the evening. Overnight in Anchorage.
