The Alaska Railroad Corporation is soliciting applications for the position of President and Chief Executive Officer.
The position is responsible for ensuring that the business plans, operations, assets, and real property holdings of the Alaska Railroad Corporation are managed and directed, on behalf of the State of Alaska, in a manner consistent with a safe, efficient and profitable rail transportation system, and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
The position reports to the 7 member ARRC Board of Directors. In 2009, the ARRC had revenue of approximately $170 million, with an average workforce size of 790 employees.
The successful candidate will have strong business experience – driving to the bottom line, exercising cost control and developing revenue opportunities – preferably in a for-profit organization with a similar size (or larger) revenue base and employee size.
The individual will be a decisive leader with a clear vision for the organization, with proven management and talent development skills, a succession planning focus, and the ability to maintain the ARRC's strong culture of safety.
We are looking for excellent public relations and communications skills, and the ability to focus both externally on Railbelt communities, and internally on ARRC employees.
Applicants should have experience in the transportation industry, or have an understanding of supply chain management, and should have experience dealing with a unionized employee population.
Experience working in the Alaskan market is desired, as is higher education at the bachelor’s or master’s level.
The ARRC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. ARRC employees are not employees of the State of Alaska, and have separate benefits programs.
