With the Alaska Railroad’s Rail-Marine Service, customers can load their goods onto a railcar in the Lower 48 and it will be seamlessly transferred to Alaska and railbelt communities via the Alaska Railroad's port in Seattle.

Alaska's Full Service Railroad
In 2008, the Alaska Railroad moved more than 6.1 million tons of freight over 641 miles of track.
Established in 1914, the Alaska Railroad was operated by the Federal government until it was purchased by the State of Alaska in 1985. Chartered to operate as a Private Enterprise, the Alaska Railroad receives no funding from the State of Alaska. All operating expenses and improvements are paid out of revenues generated by passengers, freight services, and real estate.
