ABOUT OUR TRAINS
Coastal Classic Train – A local favorite that ushers adventure seekers through the wilderness between Anchorage and Seward and features a string of massive glaciers visible from the track.
This train travels to the shores of Resurrection Bay for convenient access to Kenai Fjords National Park for whale watching and tidewater glacier viewing. Voted among the top 10 most scenic train rides in the world!
Glacier Discovery Train – Travels from Anchorage south along Cook Inlet to Whittier and winds through the scenic Spencer Glacier and Grandview regions. Passengers frequently spot a variety of wildlife on this route.
Connect to Prince William Sound and the remote river valley at Spencer Glacier for a variety of day tours. A unique partnership between the Alaska Railroad and the U.S. Forest Service brings world class recreational opportunities with the new Chugach Whistle Stop Service.
Denali Star Train – Links Anchorage to Fairbanks with stops in Wasilla, Talkeetna, and Denali National Park. The 356-mile route features spectacular scenery, such as Hurricane Gulch, where you’ll travel across one of the world’s largest single-span bridges. Expect frequent views of Mt. McKinley. The Anchorage to Denali route is our most popular rail tour.
Hurricane Turn Train – One of North America’s last flagstop trains. It runs between Talkeetna and Hurricane through some of the railroad’s most remote wilderness.
Aurora Winter Train – The Aurora Winter Train operates weekends mid-September through mid-May between Anchorage and Fairbanks.

GoldStar Service – Coastal Classic train to Seward - it doesn’t get any better
Railroad insiders say this route is the most scenic ride on the Alaska Railroad. Many activities are available in Seward like day cruises in Resurrection Bay, the Alaska SeaLife Center, shopping, dining or hiking at Exit Glacier.
Hurricane Flagstop – Local Flavor
The flagstop runs 55 miles between Talkeetna and Hurricane with plenty of stops between. Here’s a chance to chat with Alaskans who live in the wilderness and to glimpse some of the most remote territory on the Alaska Railroad.
Chugach Whistle Stop – a hiker’s paradise
Hike six-miles roundtrip to the face of Spencer Glacier or take a less rigorous walk with a Forest Service interpreters to learn about glaciers, flora and fauna. Other options are rafting or a ride in a replica Alaska Native canoe.
